PROBLEM
Disseminate access to Capacity Integrator software through multiplexing the connection via the web.
SOLUTION
Visionnaire, using CORBA, developed a graphical interface based on a web environment, WebGUI, which provides access to several users simultaneously through the multiplexing of several logical connections in one physics.
RESULTS
Many were the benefits brought to Embratel by Visionnaire’s WebGUI. Firstly, there was a cost reduction since it is not necessary to acquire additional licenses so that all of Embratel’s employees can access the CI software.
Embratel also benefitted from convenience since its workers started to carry out equipment configuration on the field.

Detailed problem:
Embratel, a Brazilian company that offers Information Technology (TI) and Telecommunications solutions, had the need to provide its employees online access to the Capacity Integrator (CI) software, a tool developed by Open Telecommunication for executing projects, inventories and planning of transport networks.
Detailed solution:
To address the issue, Visionnaire developed a web application with a Graphic User Interface (GUI). The solution, named WebGUI, is accessible via internet browser and provides online access to the Capacity Integrator (CI) software.
WebGUI can access the content databases of the CI software with the use of a CORBA interface, which is made available by the software’s developer, Open Telecommunications. Consequently, all web pages provide fully dynamic content since they are updated based on CI’s databases.
This project adopted an important principle, which was using the same basic interface model as the Windows version of the CI software. That way, WebGUI users do not need to learn and use two different interfaces to being able to use the software. Some features of the Windows interface were kept, while others were improved or added.
CI can be accessed simultaneously by many users thanks to the multiplexing of several logical connections into one physical connection. The multiplexing factor can be configured by the WebGUI administrator. With Visionnaire’s solution, it is possible to carry out numerous types of object search in the CI, as well as carrying out various associations between searched objects.
